Most people agree with this observation, but struggle to interact with individuals with disabilities. People’s empathetic feelings towards the individual’s situation inhibit themselves from acting normally. People become uncomfortable because they act in an unfamiliar manner trying to accommodate to the individual and their needs.
Luann understands this conflict in which people respect those with disabilities but lack the training and experience to know how to act.
